Just discussing some of the spoilers

Question: First of all what do you all think about the ajani, chandra, liliana, and jace themed cards?
Awesome, even if the cards are not. LoL

Question: There are a lot of mill cards coming out that are playable, Mill deck in the top 40?
Cool, and not in M11 but maybe with Scars.

Question:Will the watered down vampires even be worth fielding? The good ones are having trouble still, and the watered down are just not there yet.
Failure...

oh and on a positive side-note all my expensive lands don't go to waste

I'm very happy that my dual-lands don't die so young, but this basically means that I'll be plying R/G, R/B, or Jund colors as those are the only ones I have so far, but I'm actually happy with the forced decision. Anyways, Mill may be back on the rise but in a way we still have the Eldrazi so it kind of stops the Mill. Vampires may actually mount a good revival as almost all the other decks are more screwed by Mirrodin. All Alara decks die or lose steam and half of the walkers leave, leaving USA and U/W control weakened. I can only see Elves, Eldrazi G, Vampires, and a few other decks not crippled.

I know that there is plenty of discussion about this online but with the spoiled walker-based cards does anyone think Wizards is going a little weird with reprinting the Lorwyn walkers instead of the Alara ones? The Lorwyn ones were reprinted in M10 to get another year out of them, so M11 should do the Alara walkers, and M12 should do Zendikar. I guess it would be a little one-sided color wise, as black is unrepresented, but them's the breaks. It just feels weird that the Lorwyn walkers get another shot while Alara dies hard.

There are a few reasons for not reprinting the Alara walkers. For one, Wizards has never had a multicolored card in the core set. With the exception of Elspeth and Tezzeret, all the Alara walkers are multicolored. Tezzeret will never see the light of core set b/c he is artifact central and Wizards tends to not print a lot of artifacts in the core set. Yes, I know that there are artifacts in sets around it, but the core set is also pretty much a stand alone.

Here is the other thing, they may switch around the walkers a bit, but the core set serves another function people tend to forget. It is a way to keep staple cards, not tournament staple but staple like naturalize and birds, in rotation. If you give one color 4 planeswalkers, which in theory would happen if u went by your logic, the color pie balance disappears. Yes, I know, some colors are stronger than others. And yes, blue tends to stay on top. But doing your suggestion would kill all creativity. You'd have one deck because all the good cards are in one color. Except for jund, name a deck that doesn't use walkers?

Even Jund builds use the walkers, i.e. Garruk and Sarkhan. I guess the color pie is a bit unbalanced with the Alara walkers, and the core set is supposed to help new players enter easily. I didn't realize there isn't any gold cards in any core set, must have overlooked that one. Also, Tezzy won't return for the same reason open the Vaults isn't coming back; there isn't enough artifacts in Zendikar to warrant it. Open the vaults was in M10 because of Esper and the such in Alara, but Zendikar just doesn't have enough.
